Grade II Listed Cedar Court Mansion Worth £13 Million
This incredible Tudor mansion in Kingston upon Thames went on sale for £12.95 million in 2022.
The Grade II listed manor, called 'Cedar Court', is located on Coombe Hill Road.
The stunning property dates back to the 1480s, when it was first built for a wealthy salt merchant in Colchester.
At the time, Colchester was one of Britain’s oldest recorded towns.
However, in 1910, the huge mansion was remarkably moved brick-by-brick to Kingston, at a cost of £30,000.
Mansion Global reported that the owner at the time was an antiquarian who bought the home for £350.
The owner spent nearly 10 times the amount he purchased it for to painstakingly dismantle and rebuild the home brick-by-brick on a plot of land 70 miles away in Kingston-upon-Thames.
To this day, this home retains its 500-year-old charm.
The house is also rumoured to have once belonged to Catherine Parr, sixth and final wife of Henry VIII.
Catherine was the final queen consort of the House of Tudor, and outlived Henry by a year and eight months.
With four husbands, she is the most-married English queen - she was also the first woman to publish an original work under her own name, in English, in England.
However, there is no evidence to back up this claim that she owned this Manor House.
The Tudor-style home retains its original fireplaces, wood paneling, stained glass windows, stone walls, wooden ceiling beams, vaulted hallways and grand staircases.
Of particular interest are the hand-painted crests that hang within the home’s drawing room.
The west wing of the house boasts a "magnificent and well preserved" Tudor hall with a long gallery plus a "decadent" dining hall, study and living room.
In the east wing there is a modern kitchen and this extension hosts many of the conveniences of contemporary living - such as a garage, pantry room and cellar.
It features 12 bedrooms in total, 9 bathrooms and 6 reception rooms.
The exterior is equally as beautiful - the mansion is set in stunning landscaped gardens with a koi pond and fountain.
At the time of sale, the mansion's huge price tag made it the most expensive property up for sale in Kingston, according to Rightmove.
In 2022, it was on the market with luxury London estate agents, Rokstone for a whopping £12.9 million.
