Old Church House: Grade 2 Listed Church Turned Into Home
This Grade 2 listed church in Lincolnshire has been turned into a stunning home.
Old Church House is a beautifully presented Grade II listed former Church, which has been restored to create a stunning home in the village of Cold Hanworth.
Although it’s no longer on the market, it previously had an asking price of £400,000.
An estate agent said: ‘We had a few viewings as it is a beautiful home, but I think people may have been put off by the gravestones.’
The church was rebuilt in 1861, replacing one of medieval origin.
Boasting a wealth of period features, the property offers light and spacious accommodation and beautiful landscaped grounds running to all elevations.
The property features the original spire, altar, stained-glass windows and graves in the garden.
It also showcases the church atrium and an ornate stone lychgate.
The accommodation briefly comprises cellar, reception hall, principal reception area, kitchen/breakfast room and utility to the ground floor with three bedrooms, two with en-suite to the first floor.
Outside, the property is approached through a stunning Grade II listed stone Lychgate with cast iron gates leading to a gravel driveway with ample parking area.
Beautiful landscaped grounds run to all elevations with a mixture of mature trees and planted beds, with stone wall and fenced boundaries, and stunning open countryside vistas.
The property further benefits from a raised patio providing an ample alfresco dining area and storage in the form of a large garden shed.
The entrance leads to a reception hall which is packed full of original features including original stained glass windows and twin feature arched stained glass doors leading to a reception area.
In this room there is a brick fireplace, cast iron solid wood burner and original glazed leaded windows.
Cold Hanworth is a lovely, small village and civil parish in the West Lindsey district of Lincoln.
It is situated 8 miles -north-east from the city and county town of Lincoln, and just north of the A46.
Interestingly, at the south of the village are the earthwork remains of Cold Hanworth medieval village.
This settlement was established in the 11th century but abandoned by the 18th.
The Grade 2 listed church here was converted to a private house and renamed Old Church House in 1966.
